Musicians Closed Ranks Against Proposed HB 4218

Musicians young and old, from jazz to rock to metal to punk to hiphop, closed ranks to oppose the proposed House Bill 4218 or the OPM Development Act of 2014.

The bill was authored by Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat, submitted to the Lower House last year and has the full support of Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit (OPM), Asosayon ng Musikong Pilipino (AMP) and the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Inc. (FILSCAP).

An open forum was held in Tiendesitas last January 31, 2015 to help musicians navigate the issues surrounding HB 4218.  The gathering was jointly organized by Heart of Music, Indie Pinoy, Pinoyhiphoppaz Organization, Malayang Ugnayan sa Industriya ng mga Komposer ng Awit (MUSIKA), Musicians For Peace, Concerned Artist of the Philippines (CAP), Songwriters Philippines, Bandstand Pilipinas, SiningBugkos, Alternatribu Indie Artists Community, FILCOMDEC, and League of Authors of Public interest songs (LAPIS).
